Elham S. Hashem

Dr. Elham S. Hashem is so intrigued with what keeps the human resources of an organization satisfied and how that leads to motivation that enhances productivity that it was the theme of her second Ph.D. dissertation – The Extent To Which Satisfaction Is A Prerequisite For Employee Motivation To Enhance Performance and Productivity In Institutions of Higher Education In Lebanon: A Case Study Of Notre Dame University. Dr. Hashem is a professor and graduate advisor in the Faculty of Business Administration. She has presented numerous papers at both regional and international conferences and these have resulted in publications in refereed journals. Moreover, she is active with research projects with Pearson Prentice-Hall Publishers to develop business textbooks relevant to the Middle East.

Among the undergraduate and graduate courses that Dr. Hashem lectures are Organizational Behavior, Business Ethics, Intercultural Communication and Management, Global Human Resource Management, Leadership and Quality Decision Making, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Marketing and Business Policy Strategy. In addition, Dr. Hashem supervises graduate projects and theses; her students commend her exceptional communication skills. Dr. Hashem has also had successful administrative contributions through her initiation and commitment and possesses significant leadership characteristics for she believes and respects the individual. She was a founding member of the North Lebanon Branch of Notre Dame University (NDU) and became Assistant Dean of Students. At NDU, Dr. Hashem has held the post of Acting Director of the Office of Tests, Measurements and Evaluation, and Director of Admissions and International Recruitment. Accordingly, she initiated the international recruitment program in addition to membership in numerous international prominent associations and organizations such as the American Association of Collegiate Registrar’s and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Outside NDU, she has served as Chairperson of the Management Department, Chairperson of the English Department, Director of International Programs, and Public Relations Coordinator.

Furthermore, Dr. Hashem is a consultant in her areas of expertise and is called upon to give professional training at all levels of the organization. Including LLWB, she is a member of numerous prestigious associations such as the Human Resource Association of Lebanon (HRAL), NDU Education Society, the International Association of Universities (IAU), Association of International Educators (NAFSA), and European Association of International Educators (EAIE).
